We’re All Mad Here by Leann Belle

“A woman who can come while bathed in blood, for the men who put it there, no less, is a woman who can’t be stopped.”
― Leann Belle, We’re All Mad Here

Every once in a while, you pick up a book that immediately feels like stepping through a portal to another world. It is completely immersive. That was this book. I ended up in a strange, whimsical, and unexpectedly heartfelt world. We’re All Mad Here by Leann Belle is one of my new favorite books I have read this year. It’s quirky in all the best ways, blending humor, emotion, and chaos into something genuinely magical.

Writing Style and Atmosphere

Leann Belle’s writing feels effortless. Her prose has a conversational charm that pulls you in, making you feel like you’re part of the story rather than just reading it. There’s a rhythm to her style. I found it witty when it needs to be, truly twisted for the dark aspect, occasionally tender in the quiet moments. There was a fantastical balance between whimsy and real emotion. The world she builds is vivid and offbeat, yet grounded by raw, relatable emotions.

Character Development

The characters are no disappointment either. Each one has a personality to it an arc to help define and fill them out. I could see myself in their struggles, their hopes, and even their moments of madness. The main character’s journey feels particularly powerful. There is a mix of self-discovery, vulnerability, and courage with the right amount of fear. It’s one of those stories where I close the book feeling everything and wanting the story to go on so it wouldn’t have to end.

Themes and Takeaway

At its core, We’re All Mad Here is about embracing imperfection — in yourself, in others, and in the messiness of life. It explores mental health, identity, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going when everything feels upside down. Leann Belle handles those heavier themes with both grace and humor, reminding readers that sometimes the most beautiful kind of healing comes from accepting your own madness.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely loved this book. It’s dark and twisted, but also heartfelt, and unexpectedly deep. It the kind of story that stays with you long after you’ve finished it. We’re All Mad Here is both a love letter to those who feel a little out of place and a celebration of finding peace in your own chaos.

If you’re looking for a story that’s equal parts emotional, whimsical, and empowering, this one is absolutely worth your time.
