Going into 2026, I really wanted my first read of the year to be something good. I briefly considered rereading an old favorite, but then remembered I had already started Emma Hamm’s Seven Deadly Demons series in December with The Demon Court. Deciding to continue the series turned out to be the perfect choice, because The Demon Crown absolutely lived up to the standard set by the first book.
New Characters, New Dynamics

One of my biggest concerns when a series shifts focus to new characters is that their personalities and storylines will feel recycled. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here at all. The characters in The Demon Crown are distinctly their own, with unique quirks, challenges, and emotional arcs. It made the story feel fresh while still staying grounded in the same richly built world.
Greed as Desire, Power, and Possession
Once again, I loved the MMC’s character arc. As the embodiment of greed, his possessiveness is exactly what you’d expect — intense, consuming, and deeply tied to his identity. What really elevated the dynamic, though, was the FMC being from the Kingdom of Greed herself.
Her version of greed manifests through where she invests her time, loyalty, and attention, which creates an incredibly compelling push-and-pull between them. Their shared nature makes them understand each other in ways no one else could, while also amplifying their conflicts.

Final Thoughts
I am so glad I continued this series. The Demon Crown not only met my expectations but reinforced my excitement for what’s to come. Emma Hamm has created a world and concept that feels expansive without losing emotional depth, and I am very much looking forward to continuing the series — even if I don’t end up posting about every book.
