“We’re allowed to be a little bit crazy for love.”
― T.L. Smith, Venomous Kiss
Going into Venomous Kiss, I had seen it described on TikTok as a “morally grey villain romance.” I disagree. This is not morally grey — this is full-on dark romance, and I loved it for exactly that reason. If you’re looking for a softened villain or a redemption-forward MMC, this is not that book. The MMC is dangerous, unapologetic, and very much aware of what he is. The FMC is not morally driven either. They feed off of each other’s darkness.

One of the first notes I wrote after finishing was: “MMC is the biggest walking red flag you’ll never want to leave.” And honestly? That sums it up perfectly.
Dark, Intense, and Addictive
The tone of this book stays consistently dark, tense, and intense. There’s a constant undercurrent of danger that keeps you turning the pages, and the romance leans heavily into obsession, control, and power dynamics. This is the kind of book where you’re fully aware the situation is unhinged — and yet you’re still rooting for it.
The spice fits the story and the characters, amplifying the darkness rather than detracting from it. It’s not there to soften the edges; it sharpens them.
Familiar Vibes, Well Executed
The characters and overall feel of the story reminded me a lot of the movie, Final Girl. It is that same blend of threat, survival instincts, and twisted attraction. If you enjoy dark romances that give off predator-and-prey energy, this one will likely work for you.
The writing quality itself is solid and easy to follow, which helps when the subject matter is heavy. The pacing keeps the tension high without feeling rushed, and the author commits fully to the darker elements instead of pulling punches.
Final Thoughts
Venomous Kiss is not for everyone — and it doesn’t try to be. It’s dark, intense, spicy, and unapologetic about its MMC. If you’re a reader who enjoys villainous love interests, red flags stacked on red flags, and romance that lives firmly in the morally black territory, this book delivers exactly what it promises.
