Always Be My Banshee continues the cozy paranormal, small-monster-town charm that Molly Harper does so well. This is the next book in the series for the last post, Selkies Are a Girl’s Best Friend by Molly Harper. Stepping back into a familiar world felt comforting, but what kept it fresh was experiencing that world through a new set of characters. The FMC and MMC in this installment are distinctly different from those in the previous books, which helped the story feel new rather than repetitive.
Light Mystery and Easy Entry
There is a mystery element woven into the story that continues threads from the previous book, but it’s handled in a way that makes it easy to follow even if you haven’t read earlier installments. The author provides enough context to keep new readers grounded without bogging down the pacing, making this another entry that works surprisingly well as a standalone.

Audiobook Experience and Writing Notes
Once again, I read via the audiobook. The female narrator was enjoyable and engaging, while the male narrator — though possessing a pleasant voice — struggled with accents, which occasionally pulled me out of the story. It was an extra bummer this go round as the MMC was Irish. The same minor writing issue from the previous book popped up here as well: occasional brief POV slips mid-chapter that felt unintentional rather than stylistic. Thankfully, these moments were short and didn’t significantly impact my overall enjoyment.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, Always Be My Banshee was another sweet, cozy paranormal romance with charming characters and a welcoming setting. While it has a few small technical quirks, the story itself is warm, fun, and easy to enjoy. I liked it enough that I’ll likely continue reading more books in this series as a comfort read, especially when I’m in the mood for low-stakes paranormal romance.
